Frequently asked questions

How are the colors chosen?

The tool samples the pixels of your image and groups similar colors together. The average color of each group becomes one color in the palette, so the result shows the colors that are used the most rather than exact pixels.

Why is white missing from my palette?

Pure white and see-through (transparent) pixels are ignored, so a white background does not take up the palette. Near-white shades are still counted.

Will I get the same palette every time?

Yes, the same image and the same number of colors give the same palette. Choosing a different number of colors changes how the groups are split, so the shades change a little.

Which image types can I use?

PNG, JPG, GIF and WebP images up to 20 MB.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is read and analysed in your browser and never leaves your device.
